9/4/08: Sony Ericsson K850i: Quicksilver Black

A few months ago my SE k810i just stopped get reception, so of course, that means its time for an upgrade! I will admit the first time I saw the k850i, it looked kind of strange with the d-pad inbetween the number keys, but after holding it at my local Sony Style, I secretely fell in love. Even thought I was waiting for a part to repair my k810i, which I knew would not be fixed, so I had to get the k850i, right? I had to. So I moved some funds around and order it (after hours and hours of research including unboxing photos and horrible Youtube videos). So, after having the phone for about a month, I would like to say that I love it. The phone is fun to use and most impotantly, takes great pictures, and it should with a 5mp camera and well, because it looks like a camera. Not only does this phone look kind of like the Playstation 3, with its shiny black surface and super sensitive touch buttons but now there is media button which brings up a XMB including photo, music, video, and settings. Another cool thing is the accelerometer (automatically positions the screen to landscape mode when the phone is turned) which works well with photos, games, even themes. The phone itself is beautiful, with the dedicated camera buttons to open the lens, take a picture, even a switch to move from photo, video, and play modes. A few upgrades I like is that the battery cover is move like a camera, in that the bottom opens to reveal battery, sim and memory card (m2 and micro sd card compatable) slot so now there will be no accidental battery door opening and another improvement? is the d-pad because most of the time your not going to be using the number buttons and the d-pad at the same time because with less buttons, its less complicated. over all, I genuinly love this phone, it's not for everyone (iwhores), but its fun to take high quality pictures anywhere and anytime and send it or blog it and with HSDPA tecnology included, the first time, doing this and surfing the web turbofast! I love SE, so simple, so fun, always experimenting, and not afraid to do it. Join the 21st century, hippie!

4/3/08 Sony Ericsson k810i

sexy phone and charger                                           camera button, lens, zoom, flash and mirror

Here's a quick review of my new phone Sony Ericsson k810i (K for Kamera).
At first I was skeptical of this model because the whole front is glass, even around the buttons. The face... well actually... the phone in a whole attracts dust, lint and finger prints but the glass around the screen lights up all around kind of like a all glass exit sign. There are a ton of features common to Sony Ericsson phones (I've had a few) but some that stand out would be:

1. 3.2 mega pixel camera (with photo fix, xenon flash, auto focus, face detection and lens cover) then you can send it to your blog.
2. track id (record a few seconds of a song and you can get the title, artist and albums),
3. radio, mp3 player.
4. video, photo and music dj (editing apps.)
5. alarms, note, timer, stop watch, code memo?

A few not listed on the internets
6. bluetooth remote control (for little car? or computer mouse)
7. dedicated camera, picture album, and photo viewer buttons (silver on side and buttons at top above screen)
8. velvety feeling housing?
9. external antenna plug
10.lasers?

picture of a camera with the 3.2 mp camera in phone       picture of phone with 8.1 mp camera, what?
                                                                                                    check out light up glass.

But the best feature is the phone is unbranded and unlocked but still works on at&t .

But seriously after using the phone for about a month I love it. The battery has to be charged every 3 days(every 2 with heavier use and bluetooth on) but only takes about 2 hours to fully charge and thats pretty good considering I never shut it off ever. It is truly a sexy candy bar style phone, I love how Sony always tries to go above and beyond in their designs and features which some might see as point less but others might see as truly amazing. Kind of reminds me of another Sony design which is slowly paying off...PS3 with Blu-ray? hmm...
